Top 20 Monday Morning Stars of the Week, Nov 12

admin Popularity: 63% [?] November 12th, 2007

Chipseo Starred Items of the WeekThis has been another interesting week online, especially with the latest posts flying around about selling RSS subscribers and what not.

If you are new to this blog and this weekly post, each Monday I post a top 15 list of my starred items from the previous 7 days, as starred in my feed reader, Google Reader. This week it happens to be a top 20 list.

This post also serves as a week in review recap of sorts as well, so keep reading and you will find the top 20 stars of the week at the bottom. My subscriber feeds that I read (not that are subscribed to my blog) are up to 339 now, I think I added about 15 this week.

I can get through just about all of them each day in one way or another, but with this many, I may have to start a top 15 dud (not dude) list as well.

New Free Footer Link Love Added

I just finished a new footer of sorts that will be an extension to my post, Add Value to Your Blog, Offer an RSS Feed in Reverse, where I use the feeds in my Google Reader to create a blog roll from my public reader feeds. I added this to just show what I think are some of the better articles posted for the week.

Steps to Build Your Brand Name and Make it Stand Out

admin Popularity: 76% [?] November 9th, 2007

Branding on Golf Shirts for MarketingHow much have you worked on the branding of your intellectual or product information? So you have created a website, product, or a small business but you don’t have an identity yet?

There are many ways a customer will remember a small business. Good customer service, quality products, and reasonable or competitive prices are all practices that will make your business stand out and succeed.

One that is often overlooked by small business owners is the importance to building company recognition, or branding.

It could possibly be just as important to build a strong brand name as a small business as it is among the large corporations. You are smaller and harder to see, harder for your customers to remember. We can all remember who The Home Depot is without seeing a giant orange square logo but what person spending about 60-90 seconds on a page is going to remember what company that was a week from now. One way is to develop a strong brand name.

admin Popularity: 63% [?] November 7th, 2007

Snap Share Shot AdSnap Shot announced that they are entering the monetize your site advertising program with Snap Shares. Much like other affiliate programs Snap Shot now has the option to include four different types of ads, and of course Google Adsense is one of those methods.

Snap Shares adds a new money-making dimension to Snap Shots by allowing Web site owners and bloggers to increase their inventory with context-based ads at the bottom of each Snap Shot.

New Way To Monetize Your Blog

For those monetize your blog folks out there, this might be something to look into if you haven’t used their service before. It works similar to those textual links where an ad pops up from some keyword from within your post.

Add Value to Your Blog, Offer an RSS Feed in Reverse

admin Popularity: 64% [?] November 7th, 2007

Scott Chipseo Starred ItemsHow many feeds to you have in your reader? All of them, right. I just hit the 300+ mark this week and counting, so I don’t quite have all of them yet, but I am working on it. Have you ever subscribed to what someone else is reading instead of what someone else is writing?

Have you ever offered a feed for your own shared or starred items? If not, you might want to consider adding one of these less used features and give some added value to your readers.

I am always fascinated with what others are reading, not just with what other bloggers are writing and I subscribe to a few reader’s feeds. These are not always easy to find because not to many people post their reader feeds, and I am not sure how well this works in any reader other than Google Reader.

Get Ready for the Fall Holiday Shopping Season

admin Popularity: 59% [?] November 6th, 2007

Amazon Holiday ShoppingDo you want to increase your sales, ad revenue, and ultimately your profits in a short period of time? Was your online storefront or website ready last year when the holiday selling season rolled around? The time to prepare for the Christmas holiday season is right now.

Many retailers can sell as much in the few weeks between Thanksgiving and New Years Eve as they sell all year long. Don’t have an online retail store that sells a product? Well, don’t think that eCommerce storefronts are the only websites that see an increase in traffic over the Christmas season.

If you run a commercial, non-product based, website (like a blog) you can also take advantage of the increased online traffic that often starts when the weather gets colder and visitors are hunting around for good deals. Don’t be caught unprepared and leave revenue lost between being unprepared, no inventory, and bad customer service.

Top 25 Monday Morning Stars of the Week, Nov 5

admin Popularity: 50% [?] November 5th, 2007

Top 25 Starred ItemsOk, so normally this is the top 15, but it has been an interesting week, and ended with just about everyone loosing around 50% of their subscribers (but not really) through a reporting error, so I thought I would just make this weeks post a top 25 instead.

It seems the Google Feedfetcher and Feedburner had some reporting issues where the Google Feedfetcher dropped its reporting, and in doing so, dropped the subscriber numbers for many of the a-list bloggers.

It dropped for the rest of us as well, but for those of us with such a small subscriber list compared to the larger traffic blogs, it doesn’t “look” like it hurts as much as loosing 4,993 readers overnight. Of course the subscribers were not lost, it was only a reporting issues.

admin Popularity: 76% [?] November 2nd, 2007

Blackberry 8100 Gmail MobileIn a previous post, Why Your Business Should Always Answer Email, I went through several reasons why you should answer your email.

Now, as a follow up, I am now going to go through some simple steps that will show you how to effectively answered your customer emails, and in the process, improve your customer service. It may not be physically possible to answer every single email you receive from your customers, but using some of the methods below might help to improve the quality of customer service your business provides.

It may also improve your ASP (average sales price) on eBay, improve your sales revenue on your eCommerce store store, and also might change the way customers view your business, so crank up that inbox and hit the reply button.

Reduce the Number of Emails You Receive

Yes, that is the first way to effectively handle a higher volume of email. Lower the volume. There are so many ways to reduce the actual number of emails you receive (other than just deleting them) that this one step may bring your email volume down to a manageable level.

GoDaddy Cash ParkingDo you want to make some money with your idle domains while you wait to develop the site into a huge success? Cash Parking is one way to monetize your portfolio of domains.

GoDaddy Cash Parking is one place to put your domain portfolio, but the real question is, is it going to be a good return on your investment (that would be the $3.00 a month you have to pay for the service) in the long run? If you are wondering how much cash you can make with the GoDaddy Cash Parking service, let me give you my $.12 below, literally.

I love the graphic and stats GoDaddy uses to show how much cash you can make with your GoDaddy Cash Parking account over the other un-named options available. If you have 100 domains, and you get 45,000 impressions, that makes for 6,750 click through’s, with an average CPC (cost per click) of $.12, that gives you $7.92 per domain, or $792.16, and this is per month.
