I think understanding your goals is critically important.    There is no doubt in my mind that if you are a specialist in a particular area and develop a reputation for quality articles/statements, then guest blogging can enhance your overall reputation and credibility.

Writing without a goal in mind or outside your niche - whilst perhaps fun - will not necessarily give you an equivalent benefit for the amount of time you are investing.

Of course if you write a harsh article no is likely going to publish it for you, but if you write a good and informative article you will not only get published the article, but will also gain traffic, exposure and some link love (in other words, target bigger blogs to guest blog at).</description>
