Is 2008 over yet? - edited - Yes!!!!

November already and December 31st can’t come quick enough!    What the hell happened to 2008.

Let’s see:

January - things were looking pretty good (unless you were trying to sell a house in some parts of the country.

February - starting to work off those extra Christmas pounds, but didn’t notice anything too odd.

March - few ripples in the blankets (negative financial news, but hey, there’s always some negative financial news around the place).

April - Wow!   Was that a low flying stealth bomber that just tried to take my head off?    Too quick to see, but left a chilling feeling running down the back of my spine.   Oh it wasn’t a stealth bomber, it was the forward looking sales chart hitting the floor.

May - Oh, things are getting a little worse and belts are tightening, people are being let go.

June - Summer is always a fun time of year, relaxing, holidaying and watching the world go by - nope - not this year - started to take up backyard economics in a desperate bid to understand what all the doom and gloom was about.

July - House prices started to go down and that restless feeling came in quicker bursts.

August - Back from holidays - all relaxed and wondering what the fuss is about - right!

September - Hurricane and no power for 2 weeks.

October - Power was back long enough to see the financial world as we know it collapse.

November - Two worthy candidates run for election, but almost destroy each other’s reputation in the process through misguided and ugly media campaigns.

December - Its not here yet, but I’m hoping it takes a vacation.

I’m an optimist at heart and do believe we make our own luck.   Its a testing time with plenty of things that could drag our emotions down.  When all else fails, hold on to those you love, laugh more and don’t take anything more serious than your health and your family.   We are measured not by the strength of our intentions, but by the outcome of our deeds.

Creativity is the result of activity.  All the very best.

———updated March 15 2009————

December came and went (along with January, February and half of March!).    It would be easy to write negative things about now and look at how pear shaped the world has become in a matter of months.   For health and sanity though, it is much better to look at new opportunities and how to tackle the future in an optimistic and successful way.    There really are many opportunities opening up for people and even though it is not easy to see them sometimes, with an open mind and careful implementation - new winners will emerge.

The most common question asked today - “What goes well during a recession?”

The answer is very BASIC……….. (need I say more?).

May your online opportunities unfold and continue to grow.
